Fortnite Mobile on iOS

Fortnite Mobile iOS Invites Are Being Distributed Now

Selected iOS users will be one of the lucky few to try out the new mobile version of Fortnite: Battle Royale. Epic Games announced that the game’s first batch of invites has been sent to chosen players to download the game on their iOS devices. Keep in mind that the current build of the mobile version is a “work in progress beta.” However, players can still expect the full Fortnite: Battle Royale experience, with the same gameplay, map, and weekly updates. Impressively, the mobile version supports cross-play and cross-progress with the console/PC versions.

The game requires at least iOS 11 on all compatible devices, including tablets like the iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 4 or iPad 2017. The oldest iOS device to support the game is the iPhone 6S or SE. Players who have not received an invite can still sign up on the official site here, as Epic Games is still in the process of sending out invites and expanding the server to accommodate more players. Unfortunately for Android users, they will have to wait at least a few more months for their version of the game. However, they can still sign up now to be on the waiting list and be notified when the Android version is eventually released.

In other related news, we discussed that several key factors in Fortnite’s huge success include its availability on consoles and the fact that it was free-to-play. Compared to PUBG, it is also mostly bug-free and runs significantly smoother as well. We also compared Fortnite and the suspiciously similar Fortcraft here, saying that the former definitely has the upper hand due to its already burgeoning fanbase while the latter will have to build a reputation for itself before it can even succeed.

Fortnite: Battle Royale is a spin-off of the cooperative survival game Fortnite, to capitalize on the booming battle royale genre popularized by games like PUBG. It was originally released as a standalone free-to-play game for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac on September 26th, 2018.
