Rocket League Cross-Play

Rocket League Cross-Play Coming to Switch This Summer

Rocket League has been fortunate enough to be on most major platforms, but that can be both a blessing and a curse depending on how you look at it. After all, nothing is more irritating than your friends having a multiplayer game on a different platform. Thankfully, Psyonix has announced that Rocket League cross-play is coming to Switch this summer, and we couldn’t be more excited.

While the game already features cross-play support, it only does so with private matches, which can get the job done, but isn’t as fun as having cross play overall. Which is more than enough reason to celebrate the feature coming this summer.

There will also be party support at the update release, meaning that parties will be able to be formed between PC and PS4, PC, Switch or Xbox One. Unfortunately PS4 and Switch, as well as PS4 and Xbox One, are not available for cross-play which sure is disappointing, but not unexpected in the least.

Here’s a quick, simple guide on how to link up with friends for cross-play, read below.

  • Register with an in-game ID that is a combination of a name with a unique code, such as Scarab#7777
  • Add friends from other platforms by entering their ID into the new, in-game friends list.
  • Party up with your new cross-platform friends and play online.

But Psyonix didn’t share news just about cross-play. They revealed Rocket League will be celebrating its anniversary with an in-game event with some special content that some fans may find themselves recognizing. Rocket Pass was announced too, it’ll provide players with unique ways to both earn items and make progress as they play.

There will be multiple tiers of earnable content that makes up the Rocket Pass, though players won’t have to do anything strenuous to advance their tier. All they’ll need to do is level up normally, which will unlock new, unique content for them to enjoy.
