Yakuza Series Remaster Is Coming to the PS4

Only a short while ago in April, SEGA said that they ‘may consider’ bringing the rest of the Yakuza series to the PlayStation 4 if the demand was there. Well, it seems that the demand certainly was there, because the well-loved series is punching and kicking its way to the PS4 this year, according to the Japanese magazine Ryokutya. What’s more, these Yakuza remasters will have higher resolution and framerate, showing the remakes off in style.

PS4 owners will already be aware that they have the first two games, Yakuza Kiwami 1 and Yakuza Kiwami 2, available at their fingertips. But with Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 coming to the console, they will finally have the means to play the whole series if they choose to do so — an exciting revelation that will doubt lead to some fans holing up for days just to complete the whole series. We don’t blame you; we would too.

Unfortunately, the release dates that were given only specify when these remasters will be debuting in Japan. You can see for yourself below when the games are supposedly releasing.

Sadly, this means that we’re in the dark regarding when the Yakuza series will be making its way over to the West. We’re also not entirely sure that when the series officially debuts, it will be digital-only or if the games will receive a physical release, too. We hope so, and we’re sure those who are in the camp of ‘physical copy only or no buy’ will be hoping for the same thing too.

Are you excited to have the chance to play the full Yakuza series? Let us know in the comments below.
