Bandai Namco’s upcoming flight sim, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown may have been delayed until 2019, as new information surfaces from the relaunched official Japanese website. We haven’t heard much from Ace Combat 7 for a while now but publisher Bandai Namco has said that we will see more of the game at Gamescom 2018.
The website currently has pages that give more information on the game’s features, world, specifications, and media. The home and specs pages of the website say that the game will still be releasing at some point in 2018. However, if you zoom up on the box art on the specs page, you will see that the copyright on the box says 2019.
We haven’t heard much from Ace Combat 7 for some time but it looks as though that will change soon, with a new website launching and the game being confirmed to be playable at Gamescom 2018. Gamescom takes place in Cologne, Germany from August 21-25. It is possible that we will get a release date at the event and if it does, we will let you know.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown was announced in December 2015 at PlayStation Experience 2015. The game was originally only confirmed to release on PS4, but in 2017 a trailer listed Xbox One and PC versions of the upcoming flight sim. The game is a sequel to Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation which released in 2007 exclusively for the Xbox 360.
Ace Combat 7 will make use of the Unreal Engine 4. The PS4 version of the game will have exclusive missions for the PlayStation VR, which will place players in the cockpit of their planes and offer an increased sense of immersion. The game will also feature two-player local multiplayer.
At the time of writing, Ace Combat 7 is scheduled to release sometime in 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, though as highlighted above, this could well change in the near future.
