Fallout 76 Mouse Lag Fix, Gaming's Best Alternate Histories

Another Bethesda and Obsidian Fallout Not Likely

Bethesda’s 2010 Fallout New Vegas was a fantastic game thanks in part to Obsidian Entertainment’s talent. They took a solid base and put their own spin on it, leading the game to be one of the Fallout franchise’s best. However, Bethesda head honcho Todd Howard recently stated that he and the company are unlikely to work with outside developers on a Fallout game again.

In an interview with The Guardian he stated that:

“I wouldn’t say never…[But] now that our company is so big, it’s always better to keep stuff internal … it becomes less likely, but I could never say never. I thought the Obsidian guys did a fabulous job.”

Bethesda and Obsidian Fallout: Is There Hope?

This is sad to hear considering how well-loved and critically acclaimed the externally developed Fallout game was. Yet, with the Maryland based company’s expansion to include a Montreal based studio as well as their Austin based studio. They have the resources and talent quite frankly to be able to make something as fantastic as Fallout New Vegas. It makes sense then that they would want to keep everything in-house so as to lower the hassle of developing such a game. There is still hope, however, as Obsidian has stated before that they would love to return to the franchise again.

But we are still getting a spin-off in the shape of Fallout 76 which shows that this in-house innovation is indeed happening. In fact, despite the marketing of the game indicating as such, Todd Howard has stated that the new game will still stick to the franchise’s roots. He stated that he wouldn’t call it a survival game and that he indeed play’s it solo most of the time. So for all we know Fallout 76 could be the new Fallout New Vegas.

But what do you think? Are you sad no one else is going to be able to make Fallout games or do you think its all fine and dandy? Sound off in the comments below!
