Naoki Yoshida, the director behind the massive disaster that was Final Fantasy XIV, spoke out on the game's problematic launch, confessing that if Square makes a similar misstep in the future, it could very well bring about the end of the company.
Yoshida told Kotaku that he is well aware of what is at stake here, and there's no way they'll release version 2.0 A Realm Reborn before it is ready. "We won't make a mistake like FFXIV again. If we did, it would be like at the level of destroying the company," he said.
It looks like the initial failure of FFXIV didn't come as all too much of a shock to Yoshida, either. "When I heard that it was going to go on sale as planned, I thought, that will probably be a big mistake."
