Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Gameplay

Rumor: Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Will Be like The Force Unleashed

The title of the new Star Wars game from Titanfall creators Respawn Entertainment was revealed at EA’s E3 press conference as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but we haven’t heard much about it since then. However, new rumors about the anticipated game suggest that Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order gameplay will be similar to LucasArts’ 2008 game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, although less extreme.

The rumor appeared on the latest episode of popular Star Wars podcast Now This Is Podcasting, the official show of respected fan site Making Star Wars. At around the 19:00 mark, site Editor-in-Chief Jason Ward mentions that he’s talked to people connected with the game. He says he was told that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will play a lot like The Force Unleashed, except “without the Mountain Dew qualities.” By that he means the game’s Force powers will be “less extreme, more true to canon… you won’t see anything absurd”.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was a 2008 LucasArts title and one of the last games released by George Lucas’ video game publishing company before he sold everything to Disney. It was a third-person action adventure where you played as a powerful Force user named Starkiller, Darth Vader’s secret apprentice. Starkiller’s powers were usually far more devastating than any shown off in the movies or TV shows. These were most infamously represented by the apprentice pulling a giant Star Destroyer out of the sky.

Ward also suggests that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order won’t have multiplayer.

“You will probably want to keep Star Wars Battlefront installed for multiplayer stuff,” he said.

While Star Wars Battlefront II does still have more new content coming, it would be very unusual for a Respawn or EA title to launch without a multiplayer component. They shut down the single-player Star Wars project from Amy Hennig and Visceral Games after all, so as always take these rumors with a grain of salt.
