Xenoblade Dev’s “Goal Is To Become Something Like” Bethesda

Michihiko Inaba, of Japanese game development studio Monolith Soft, revealed that he and his team are striving to be more like Bethesda.

Inaba shared the studio's newfound inspiration with Siliconera, telling the outlet that they wish to prove they can hold their own with the rest of the world's talent. “I want to show that Japan can still keep up with the USA when it comes next gen technology. Our goal is to become something like the developers of the Fallout series, Bethesda Softworks,” he explained.

With regards to the studio's first project for the Wii U, Inaba explained that he aims to make “an HD game that will wow the players”. Executive producer Hirohide Sugiura went on to agree with Inaba, adding, “I believe that today’s Japanese gaming industry has lost its touch, and we’d like to do something to change that."

It looks like we'll just have to wait and see whether or not their Bethesda-inspired approach will pay off.
