Microsoft has made it clear that they're aiming to turn the Xbox platform into the go-to entertainment hub, so it should come as no surprise to hear that the company has reportedly acquired the “small home-entertainment technology start-up” R2 Studios.
According to the Wall Street Journal, inside sources have revealed that after negotiating with Apple and Google, R2 Studios decided to join up with Microsoft's Xbox division, bringing with it patents related to “controlling electronic devices.”
With Microsoft looking to make tablet integration a big part of the Xbox experience through SmartGlass, perhaps R2 will play a major role in this technology going forward. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
