I don't know about you, but I found DmC: Devil May Cry to be quite the humorous and enjoyable experience thanks to some clever writing and solid voice acting. However, not everyone felt the same way, so Ninja Theory has taken it upon themselves to spell out the game's comedic angle.
“Satire is a peculiarly British focus. From Spitting Image to Have I Got News for You, we don’t hold back in ridiculing the establishment and getting to the truth through humour," Ninja Theory’s Dominic Matthews told Rock, Paper, Shotgun. "DmC is no different in that regard. It’s a comical satire on the world we live in. It shouldn’t be taken too seriously, but it is a reflection of our times."
Matthews went on to add that because this game was designed for a mature audience, they felt comfortable layering in humor that could be appreciated by someone of that demographic. “Our games are being played by intelligent adults, so there is no reason why we can’t treat them as such.”
Have you played DmC yet? If so, what do you think of the game's humor? Is it done intelligently? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
