Destiny 2‘s fifth season, the Season of the Forge will commence tomorrow on the 27th of November and brings with it three new pinnacle weapons. Two of these weapons can be earned without needing to use the Crucible after fan feedback on previous weapons.
Bungie has detailed the new Pinnacle weapons coming in Destiny 2‘s fifth season in a blog update, which not only tells you all about the guns but also how to get them.
The first weapon in question is called Loaded Question which is a high-impact fusion rifle. The rifle has a unique ability called Reservoir Burst which activates when the battery is full. The next burst attack will deal more damage and also cause enemies who die to explode.
To get Loaded Question guardians will need to get the quest from Zavala and then get 500 Fusion Rifle kills and 100 Arc kills in any strike or Nightfall. They’ll also need 40 strike or Nightfall completions before heading back to Zavala to grab their shiny new gun.
The second weapon you can earn through PVE activities is Breakneck, the precision auto rifle. This gun’s perk is called Onslaught and is described as “This weapon’s rate of fire increases as you stack Rampage.”
Rampage is typically a legendary gun ability which increases the damage you deal after you get kills and can stack three times. This means when using Breakneck you’ll not only deal more damage as you clock up kills but also fire faster.
To get your hands on Breakneck you can pick up the quest from the Drifter. Then you’ll need 500 auto rifle kills, 100 auto rifle multi kills, 150 challenging enemies defeated, and 40 Gambit matches completed. After which, returning to the Drifter will grant you your new weapon.
Lastly, there is one weapon that requires the crucible to unlock and it’s quite a bit more effort than the previous ones added in Destiny 2‘s fifth season.
The Mountaintop is a lightweight grenade launcher with the unique perk Micro Missile which makes it fire in a straight line with a very fast projectile speed. The grenade also doesn’t bounce like they usually would and instead instantly detonates.
First off, you’ll need to reach Glory rank Brave within a season. Then rack up 750 points by getting grenade launcher final blows in the crucible and 200 points with group defeats.
After this, you’ll need to get 100 points with of calculated trajectory medals and reach glory rank Fabled within a season. All of these quests will go a lot faster and earn more points while using the competitive playlists and can also be completed across all your characters.
Once you’re done, talk to Lord Shaxx after doing so to get your hands on the devastating Mountaintop grenade launcher.
