God of War: Ascension is out next week, and (surprise!) it's really quite good. That said, the franchise is beginning to show its age, as the PS3 has some technical limitations that the PlayStation 4 will no doubt remedy.
In an interview with Eurogamer, lead game designer Mark Simon teased Sony Santa Monica's next-gen plans, saying, "If you give us enough time and you give us those specs, we will blow you away. Our team's pretty good." He went on to tout the specs of the PS4, adding, "Well, the hardware itself has 16 times the memory we had on the previous console. The hardware takes a lot of the shackles off in terms of visuals."
Sadly, it looks like a next-gen God of War title will likely be a ways away, as the team has been 100% focused on Ascension. "To me [the PS4] is imagination land. We haven't touched it. We're not even concentrating on it. All we're concentrating on is we know we release in a week. I imagine we're going to be on our forums talking to players about the stuff they're experiencing in multiplayer and trying to address that stuff immediately," Simon added.
God of War: Ascension launches on March 12th, exclusively for the PlayStation 3. If you haven't already done so, be sure to read our review of the game right here.
