When speaking to Gaming Blend, Associate Marketing Manager Alex Chang expressed excitement in how the Steam Box is moving the PC market to a new frontier. He said:

During the past decade the console gaming market has blossomed with both growing developer and consumer support. Meanwhile, PC gaming recessed into what many view as a platform for only the most hardcore. It also has continued to evolve at a pace that consoles simply can't with significant technological and gameplay-related improvements.
Needless to say, console gamers who haven't stayed up-to-date with PCs are in for a surprise when they see what is possible here and now, and that's the impetus behind the Steam Box. It's going to bring the unobstructed potential of PC gaming to those who don't want to fool with hardware. It's also going to bring the sharpened Steam platform to the living room. It's no surpise that one of the world's most successful electronics companies is anxious to see what it means for the industry.
