The Witness Runs Faster On PS4 Than PC, According To Game Creator

Jonathan Blow made a surprising appearance at Sony's PlayStation 4 reveal last month, announcing a brand-new title called The Witness. As far as we know, this new first-person puzzle title will be coming to both the PS4 and PC, and according to Blow, “the equivalent game will run faster” on the PlayStation 4.

Speaking with Edge, the mind behind Braid explained:

For The Witness we’re mostly interested in the base machine and how fast it is – the fact it has faster RAM than a PC, which really helps in shuttling graphics resources around, and since it’s not running a heavyweight operating system like Windows that gets in the way of your graphics.

Rendering stuff through Windows has an impact on performance. Since a console is just about games, that doesn’t happen, and the equivalent game will run faster. And if you can target to specific hardware you can make it run faster, too.

Are PC gamers soon going to have to get used to settling for an inferior product? Is the PlayStation 4's RAM really going to make that much of a difference in the long term? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below.
