Global Manager of Community Engagement at EA DICE, Ben Walke, has seemingly confirmed Star Wars Battlefront 2 Anakin Skywalker will utter an infamous line. “I don’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere,” is the full quote of Anakin Skywalker’s now frequently memed musings.
In response to a Twitter user requesting the line be included, Ben Walke tweeted:
I made a deal that I don’t intend to break.

According to a Reddit thread, the deal Ben Walke is referencing refers back to a petition made by fans requesting the inclusion of “I don’t like sand.” In response the petition, Ben Walke said “5k and we’ll think about it.” The petition reached beyond that target and now here we are, Walke confirming he will stick by his word.
The Anakin Skywalker “I don’t like sand” meme has been going strong for over a decade now (via KnowYourMeme). The gags show no sign of slowing down and only receive a signal boost upon the release of a new Star Wars movie or an announcement like the inclusion of Anakin in Battlefront 2.
Ben Walke seems to have a ton going on at the moment aside from internet petitions, the tweet he answered was responding to an interesting post of his own. Walke’s tweet said “Execute Order SK939. I’ll be seeing you soon @Respawn.” Eagle-eyed readers will notice the “order” is simply his flight number, rather than any nod to something from the Star Wars franchise. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see a member of DICE’s team visiting Respawn who are currently developing their own entry into the franchise, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Battlefront 2 Anakin Skywalker is set to be released on February 27. EA continues to add content to the game with General Kenobi being added at the end of last year. Anakin Skywalker was recently preceded by Count Dooku’s introduction to the game.
