Quantic Dream Is Looking To Add Multiplayer To Its Formula

Have you ever wondered what a Heavy Rain Online would be like? You might find out sooner than you think.

Quantic Dream has opened up a position on its recruitment page for a lead online programmer. The description states the following:

We are currently looking for a skilled Lead Online programmer in order to set up and to manage a team dedicated to our online / network developments.

We are looking for a creative lead online programmer with a passion for online gaming in order to be with us for our future AAA projects.

Studio director David Cage has had a keen interest in multiplayer for a couple of years now, but hasn't found the right time to explore it. Quantic Dream's experiences are most noted for emotionally engaging stories that are fulfilling in their own right. The studio has Beyond: Two Souls in development, buts it's due out this October and has been advertised as singleplayer only. It's far more likely that its unannounced PS4 game will be the one to test the waters.

If it does turn out that Quantic Dream will add multiplayer to its first PS4 game, the new hardware will leave a lot of room to explore. The powerful specs will inherently raise the capacity to make the game more believable, but the system's online features can be a great addition as well. Its cross game chat and streaming options will mean players can share their great moments with others. In addition, being able to play together might highlight things that they would otherwise overlook.

As long as no major compromises are made to the core formula, this could be what Quantic Dream needs to push itself to the next level.
