New Rocksteady game Outlaws may have been outed as a fake

The rumored new Rocksteady game Outlaws may have been outed as a fake by eagle-eyed DC Comics fans. An image appeared online earlier this week suggesting that Batman Arkham creator Rocksteady would soon announce a brand new project based on the DC vigilante group the Outlaws, with the world premiere reportedly set to take place on April 26. However, those anticipating the game have discovered an ArtStation page that the image was seemingly pulled from.

A user on the Outlaws subreddit shared the similarities between the game’s rumored promotional images, and Gotham City fan art posted by 3D artist Dmitry Wittman on ArtStation. Wittman also uploaded a video featuring his work rendered in Unreal Engine 4, which can be viewed below:

The “promo image” for Outlaws that was circulated online can be viewed below:

Comparing the two images, it’s clear that the “leaked” promotional image is taken directly from Dmitry’s artwork. The only additions are the DC Comics and Epic Games trademarks, along with the game’s rumored logo.

Following the “leak,” a product listing for Outlaws also surfaced online reportedly showing the box for the game’s premium edition. While the box didn’t feature any artwork, it shared the same logo as the rumored promotional image.

It had previously been rumored that Rocksteady was working on a Suicide Squad game, which would adopt a live service model similar to Destiny 2. Considering that Outlaws would also follow a DC vigilante group, many believed the supposed leaks. However, while Rocksteady could potentially be working on a game based on the Outlaws, the promo image being lifted from a fan’s ArtStation page all but confirm that the leaks thus far have been fake.

It has also been suggested that Rocksteady is working on a brand new Batman game, apparently titled Batman Arkham Crisis and focused on the mysterious Court of Owls. However, this rumor also suggested that the game would launch in 2019, and considering we’re now nearly halfway through the year, this seems highly unlikely.
