A Maneater gameplay trailer and demo has been revealed, showing off what players can expect when they assume the role of a Great White Shark and begin chowing down on unwitting beachgoers. The new trailer was debuted during the PC Gaming Show at E3 2019, showing off the “shark-PG” in which players are tasked with nomming on humans while swimming around as the apex predator.
Maneater was originally revealed during E3 2018, with Tripwire bringing more news to this year’s PC Gaming Show. While Tripwire couldn’t confirm a release date, it did say that the game should be available before the next PC Gaming Show, meaning that it will likely be released before June 2020. That’s a long time to wait, but we’re willing to be patient for our wonderful shark boi.
During an on-stage demo, Tripwire claimed that the game would be like “GTA, but if you were a shark.” Its open levels certainly gave that impression, as did its extreme violence — Maneater doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to bloodshed. Still, we can’t imagine that a shark attack is a painless experience, so it’s all in the name of realism.
