Despite the fact that the majority of Call of Duty titles being available on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (PC too!), it's far more popular on the 360. Xbox LIVE is more suitable for online gaming, and the Xbox 360 has been privy to recent DLC packs earlier than other platforms. However, Sony is looking to steal some of that focus away from the 360.
Sony has just announced the availability of a new Limited Edition 160GB PlayStation 3 Black Ops Bundle. The bundle, releasing on May 31st, features a 160GB PlayStation 3 console, a copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops, and a voucher to download Black Ops' First Strike DLC for free.
All that is needed is for the PlayStation Store to be up and running for anyone to be able to actually download it. Which means that there's a good chance that the PlayStation Store will indeed be available before the end of the month. Otherwise Sony would have been smart to postpone the release of this bundle by another week or so.
This also means that it's going to be a few more weeks before we'll see the Escalation DLC on the PS3, or they would have included it in this bundle.
Anyone in the market for a new PS3 should pick this up. Even if you have Call of Duty: Black Ops, you can always trade in the game and sell the First Strike DLC on Ebay, making back a little money to put toward your PS3 purchase price.
