Star Wars: The Old Republic Adds Ewok Companion… But You Still Can’t Play As One

One of Star Wars: The Old Republic's admitted shortcomings has been its inability to let you play several of the more interested races in the Star Wars universe. BioWare has explained it as a side-effect of the game's voice-acting and cutscene driven narrative. Nonetheless, players want to play as an Ewok, and there appears to be no hope in sight.

In SWTOR's 2.3 update, which is now playable on the public test realm, the next best thing to being able to play as an Ewok has been added: an Ewok companion character. His name is Treek, and he won't lend you his services easily. In order to use him you'll need to be legacy level 40 and have a pocket full of credits (1 million or so).

Update 2.3 brings many other great additions such as a level 55 daily mission area, new flashpoints, a new warzone, and even some graphical improvements to the game's many environments. There's presently no expected release date but it's fair to say it'll be live within the next four-weeks.
