Gran Turismo 6 is launching on the PlayStation 3 later this year. This may seem a bit odd seeing as how the PlayStation 4 is also releasing this year and a new entry Sony's popular racing franchise would make for a great launch title, but don't jump to conclusions just yet.
According to Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi, the studio has a PlayStation 4 version of the upcoming racer in mind, but by the time it is ready to launch, it could very well be called Gran Turismo 7. After all, gamers know all too well that Polyphony isn't known to pump out games at a particularly rapid rate.
Yamauchi was also careful to point out that the studio's "vision" of Gran Turismo 6 may not necessarily translate to the PlayStation 4 title, once again reiterating the fact that the game might evolve into GT7. Regardless, I think it is safe to say PlayStation 4 gamers will have to remain patient for quite a while before a next-gen Gran Turismo is out on store shelves.
