Corsair acquires premium controller maker Scuf Gaming

Corsair, creator of high-end PC gaming peripherals, is acquiring controller maker Scuf Gaming. The Corsair acquires Scuf Gaming news comes less than a month after the release of Scuf’s latest controller, the Scuf Vantage 2 for the PS4.

Corsair announced the acquisition, which is expected to be completed by the end of December, in a press release. According to Scuf CEO Duncan Ironmonger, Scuf controllers are “the preferred controller for the majority of top professional gamers.” Scuf has earned a place in the controller market as one of the companies at the forefront of premium third-party controller design. The company specializes in modular, customizable controllers like the Scuf Infinity1, and its Scuf Vantage line has brought a controller design similar to that of the Xbox One Elite Controller to PlayStation 4 owners.

Corsair, meanwhile, has been producing PC products since 1994. These now range from high-end accessories like the Corsair Strafe keyboard to streaming tools. Like Elgato Gaming, which Corsair acquired in 2018, Corsair said Scuf will remain a separate brand under Corsair and will continue to operate out of its Atlanta HQ.
