Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 will go on sale in Japan on Feb. 22, 2014. A special day-one edition of the console includes downloadable copy of Knack and an enhanced warranty.
After tax, the machine will ring customers 41,979 yen (like $425) without a camera, or they can get it bundled with a camera for 46,179 yen (around $465).
Sony claims that the main reason for this is guaranteed availability of software. The company wants a mixture of Japanese-developed and Western-developed titles available right when the system debuts, as well as some "Japanese unique titles." They feel that the end of February is about when the stars can align to make that happen.
