Sega of America has confirmed that a number of layoffs have hit the company, as internal restructuring has led to some changes within the publisher.
Fortunately, according to a Sega rep that spoke with GamesBeat, the number of those who've lost their jobs is "small."
As the gaming industry continues to evolve. Companies must adapt and adjust in order to compete and succeed in an ever-changing environment. As a result of this, Sega of America has recently undergone a restructure that will enable the company to focus efficiently on developing new and existing content across digital platforms as well as continuing to focus on key brands for packaged goods.
Let's hope this means a brighter future for Sega. After all, Sega Sammy will be acquiring Persona developer Atlus and its parent company Index Corp. next month. I'd like to think the talented Japanese studio is going to be placed under capable leadership.
