Microsoft has announced that you won't be able to use your real name on Xbox Live when its next-gen console launches in November. However, the company is still planning to add this feature down the line.
"While real identities continue to be part of our plans for the experience on Xbox One, at launch, customers will continue to search for friends using their Gamertags," a rep from Microsoft told Kotaku. "Our teams are working hard to deliver a quality experience for Xbox One. This means prioritizing some features and sometimes postponing others for a later update."
Considering all that has to be ready in time for launch, it's not surprising that a few things here and there won't be ready on day one. With online ecosystems being such a major part of the experience in today's day and age, there's so much more for console manufacturers to worry about than just hardware and games.
