[Update] Infinity Ward's Mark Rubin has confirmed that the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts runs natively at 720p, while the PS4 version is at 1080p. He posted the following update on TwitLonger:
Hey, been on the road last couple weeks so haven’t had a chance to update, but wanted to confirm that for Xbox One we’re 1080p upscaled from 720p. And, we’re native 1080p on PS4. We optimized each console to hit 60 FPS and the game looks great on both. Still on the road, but glad to see the great reception to Extinction. Can’t wait for next week's launch.
Let the fanboy rage ensue.
[Original] A new report suggests that the PlayStation 4 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will run natively at 1080p while the Xbox One version will be upscaled from 720p to 1080p.
Naturally, this rumor has caused quite a stir on NeoGAF, leaving many to wonder whether or not Microsoft's stronghold over the Call of Duty franchise is bound to last. Might the PlayStation platform become the de facto place for shooter fans to get their FPS fix?
We can't stress strongly enough that this is merely rumor, as neither Activision nor Microsoft have released any official statement to clear up the matter. That said, would the difference in resolution sway you one way or the other? Does visual quality outweigh your controller or online community preference? Be sure to sound off in the comments and let us know.
