Call of Duty: Warzone has been updated with an elevated zombies presence. Now the island is covered in areas infested with undead, offering up rewards for players who manage to take down a high number of them. The zombie infection has slowly been rising over the weeks and now players themselves can become infected. Here’s how to become a zombie in Warzone.
How to become a zombie in Call of Duty: Warzone
To become a zombie in Call of Duty: Warzone players must die in the infected zones that are marked with red circles.
At the time of writing, both the Prison and Shipwreck are infected. Players going there will start to lose health. If they lose health entirely, they will die and come back as a zombie.
It’s worth noting that this doesn’t work in Solos and it also skips the Gulag. This means teammates will be required to bring back dead zombified players at a Buy Station.
Becoming a zombie grants players with unique abilities. The abilities are the same as experienced during the Haunting of Verdansk Halloween event. Zombies have an enhanced jump, deploy gas, trigger an EMP blast, and also slash at enemies with a melee attack.
A new Skull icon joins the other symbols in the top-right of the screen. This shows how many zombies are alive, giving human players an idea of just how many wild undead are zooming about the place.
