Spencer: Halo TV “Really Matters,” Won’t Just Be “Filler”

Last year, Microsoft announced that a Halo television program is in the works for Xbox One owners, which is being done in collaboration with legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. Since then we haven't heard much about the project, but Microsoft's Phil Spencer recently broke the silence in an interview with OXM, making it clear that this isn't just some half-hearted money grab.

"I can't use the word filler anywhere near Halo, it just won't work," he explained. "If we're going to do a television series with Halo, we're going to do it the right way, and we're going to do it because we think it really matters."

Leading up to the launch of Halo 4, 343 Industries released an episodic series called Forward Unto Dawn, which served as a nice live-action primer to the game. If this new project is anything like that, you can sign me up right now.

Are you excited for the Halo television series? Are you worried Microsoft might milk the sci-fi franchise dry? Let us know in the comments below.
