Valve Not Making VR Headset, Working With Oculus Instead

During the Steam Dev Days event, Valve announced that it would be working with Oculus to bring VR gaming to the masses instead of creating a headset of its own.

In fact, Oculus and Valve worked together to develop the new tracking features found in the Crystal Cove prototype. By using a combination of an external camera, markers, and sensors, the device can better track the position of the player.

Valve's Michael Abrash doesn't see virtual reality headsets really taking off until another two years, but is confident that the two companies are making great strides in the right direction. Do you think VR headsets will ever resonate with a mainstream audience?
