Sony Admits Poor Support for PSP, Wants Redemption with Vita

In an issue of PSM3 magazine, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida recognizes the company's lack of focus on the PSP after its launch in favor of their home Playstation 3 console:

Righty after PSP we moved on to the PS3 launch. We shifted too many resources out of PSP…

We don't want to make the same mistake, so we always look at balancing PS3 and Vita.

It remains to be seen whether Sony can learn, because if the rumors are true, the PS4 will be at least announced next year in the wake of the Wii U. We know it's in the development, so we hope they don't forget that the PSP Vita exists and we don't just get ports of PS3/PS4 titles on the handheld.

Or else it will just turn into another expensive MP3 player…
