DICE and EA Announce Battlefield 4 Player Appreciation Month for February

DICE General Manager Karl Magnus Troedsson took to the Battlefield blog to announce a new program designed to get players back into Battlefield 4's virtual warfare after a buggy debut on next-generation video game consoles.

We reviewed Battlefield 4 on PC, where the franchise has always excelled, and never ran into the issues countless players reported across PC, current-gen, and next-gen consoles. Those players made the issues they discovered known and developer DICE has worked over the past few months to get the game back to stability.

Now, DICE hopes to recapture their launch base (and possibly the more reluctant gamers out there) with a month-long Player Appreciation program, offering community missions and daily giveaways, "just for jumping into a match."

"We appreciate all of the great feedback you continue to provide about all aspects of Battlefield 4," Troedsson writes. "We take this very seriously, and hearing directly from you has helped to make the experience better. We are further improving a number of items commonly referred to as 'netcode.'"

The team at DICE have also made improvements and are adding functionality to Battlefield 4's Control Room where you can view the latest game updates and status, in addition to reintegrated Platoon support so players can group up and work together.

More importantly, players will get plenty of goodies for their patience all through February. DICE has promised that every day you log into the game in February, you'll receive a Bronze or Silver Battlepack which give players XP boosts, new camouflage skins, and more. Weekday warriors will get bronze packs, while logging on during Saturday and Sunday throughout February will net you silver packs.

Additionally, two shortcut bundles will be released for free during February, unlocking all grenades and handguns for new players or those whose progression got tripped up by connectivity and gameplay issues.

To continue speeding players to plenty of unlocks and renewed Battlefield addictions, DICE will also run two double XP weekends in February, one for all players and a second for BF Premium subscribers. Finally, new global DICE Community Missions will challenge the entire Battlefield 4 playerbase to complete certain goals with Gold Battlepacks on the line as a reward.
