Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare Will Get New Maps And Modes via Free DLC

During out hands-on with Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare last week, we had an opportunity to check out the expansive item shop that will allow players to unlock new character variants, weapon mods, taunts, and more, but the conversation inevitably turned to the plans EA have for Garden Warfare DLC.

When initially pressed, Producer Brian Lindley seemed reluctant to lay out the future of his game, still a few weeks from release. With Garden Warfare launching first on Xbox One and Xbox 360, and no mention of a PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, or even a PC release at this point, it seems like DLC might be the least of EA's concerns.

Still, Lindley assured us that Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare wouldn't needlessly fracture its player base, especially as brand new next-gen consoles are just barely hitting the market.

"We'll be adding new maps and new modes," Lindley explained, "we're probably just going to give away the maps and modes so that players can just have more of the experience, and then we'll be adding more items to the Sticker Shop so players can unlock more stuff by continuing to play the game."

Lindley explained that the reasoning behind free maps and modes was mostly based on the fact that Garden Warfare is a multiplayer-only game. "We don't want to separate the haves and the have-nots in terms of who's got what content and who doesn't, so we wanna make sure everyone has access to the new maps and modes for sure."
