The Order 1886 Characters Boast “Over 100K Polygons Each”

Sony revealed fantasy thriller The Order: 1886 last year, but with a new trailer (above) fans and PS4 owners have eagerly gobbled up new details on the game, looking for fodder in the ongoing console warz. With the game announced exclusively for PS4, developer Ready at Dawn seems to be fanning those fires.

Previously, developer Ready at Dawn founder and Chief Technical Officer Andrea Pessino boasted that the actual gameplay looks better than the debut trailer shown at E3 and Sony even followed up by saying that the game looks like a movie and that it could wind up more impressive than inFAMOUS: Second Son, another hotly anticipated PS4 title from Sony.

While The Order: 1886 will render at 30 frames per second on Sony's next-gen console, this might be because of the high graphical fidelity leveraged to bring The Order's cast to life. Responding to a fan on Twitter, Pessino said that the game's main characters feature over 100,000 polygons each and that over 250 joints are at work in the head alone. Read the full tweet below:

I'd say that the developers can aim for such high-quality characters in their game because they don't have to worry about a multiplayer mode, but detailed models like the ones Pessino is talking about might be hard to pull off in a potential PS3 release of The Order: 1886 too.

Can we hope for more new IP at the start of this console generation and will they all be as ambitious as The Order: 1886?
