Red Dead Redemption Could be Getting a Remaster, Korean Rating Suggests

There have been hopes that the original Red Dead Redemption would receive the remaster treatment, and there’s still a possibility that it could be happening.

According to the Korean ratings board

While it’s too early to tell whether a remaster is imminent, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea recently updated RDR with a new rating.

The update went live on June 15 with an additional modification being done to the listing on June 26. Running the information through Google Translate gives some details about Red Dead Redemption.

It also suggests that the 2010 Rockstar title is making a comeback, but it’s impossible to say in what context. Speculations would hint at a remaster, but there’s no evidence of that at the time of writing.

The history section on the GRAC website (again, translated by Google) gives the game the classification number CC-NV-230615-001. According to a report from Gematsu, the use of NV refers to consoles.

If there is a remaster of RDR on the horizon, this classification number could mean that it would be coming to consoles rather than PC. Given that Red Dead Redemption has never been ported to PC, this could be disappointing for those who don’t have a modern console.

It should be reiterated that this is only a rumor based on what’s been seen on the Korean ratings board website. There’s very little to go off from this listing alone, but many of you will be tempted to jump to conclusions.

While Grand Theft Auto V is arguably Rockstar’s most popular game, fans have not forgotten about the gun-toting John Marston from the sublime Red Dead Redemption. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about this alleged remaster soon.
