Overwatch loves its seasonal events, and we love them too. Each new event spawns hours upon hours of endless engagement, whether it be grinding for loot boxes or trying out the new brawls that come with each one, they're an absolute sensation each time.
The Year of the Rooster Chinese New Year event is no exception, and we look forward to playing each hero who got a brand new skin. Especially Mei, who got two(!?) legendary(?!) skins.
But what about those heroes that didn't get a new skin? And what about those heroes who are routinely skipped on Blizzard's Special Event Skin list? GameRevolution looked at every heroes' special event skins from all four events, based on number and rarity, and here's what we came up with:
As you can see, five heroes only have one special event skin, while everyone else has at least two. And 10 heroes still don't have a single legendary event skin, while seven heroes have at least two. This data bolsters fan complaints the the Overwatch team at Blizzard has been focusing too much on a core of heroes in terms of event skins while others fall by the wayside. That being said, Sombra has only been around for two of the four events.
This leaves the hapless four, Genji, Hanzo, Soldier: 76 and Widowmaker. Genji and Widowmaker players have it the worst. But the graph above is also sorted by when each hero had their last event skin, so Genji and Widowmaker have it worse than the others, because their last event skin was at the Summer Games event – the very first Overwatch event – AND it wasn't legendary.
This doesn't tell the whole story either, with several of these event skins essentially amounting to re-colors, such as Zarya's Winter Wonderland Skin.
What do you think? Are you a lucky Tracer fan who is on top of the world, or a lowly Genji/Widowmaker player who just wants to look fancy and dress for the occasion?
