The Daily Vote is a daily community feature in which GameRevolution’s readers choose the victor of a hotly-contested topic. Today we ask the community which PS4 exclusive is the best EVER.
A new PS4 exclusive has launched today, with Day’s Gone allowing players to assume the role of Deacon St. John as he navigates the game’s Freaker-infested post-apocalyptic Oregon. GameRevolution’s Jason Faulkner was a fan of SIE Bend Studio’s latest release in our review, calling it “one of the better zombie games in recent years.” But is it the best PS4 exclusive ever?
In today’s The Daily Vote, we want to know YOUR pick for the best PS4 exclusive of all time. Could it be Sony Santa Monica’s God of War, a fresh take on the story of Kratos? Or Insomniac’s Spider-Man, which gave us one of the best superhero games of all time? Perhaps it’s From Software’s Bloodborne, a Lovecraftian spin on the Dark Souls formula? Or even Uncharted 4, which capped off the story of Nathan Drake?

Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “God of War. It’s not only my favorite PS4 exclusives, but it’s one of my favorite games ever. It does away with the bloated open-world structure of so many big-budget single-player games in favor of a tighter, more structured experience that allows you to branch off the beaten path if you so desire, but doesn’t force you to do so. The combat is up close and personal, the relationship between Kratos and Atreus adds vulnerability to one of PlayStation’s most iconic characters, and it’s just so well-paced compared to most other games.”
Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “God of War is the best Sony exclusive ever. It’s one of the best-paced games I’ve ever played. It gives just enough optional content to be fun instead of overwhelming and it’s the perfect length. The story feels epic and the playtime isn’t so long as to make it feel like a slog by the end.”
Michael Leri, features editor: “Out of four incredible classics, God of War probably stands just a hair above the pack. The way in which it reframes the series, tells it’s own singular story, places you in a lovely new world, and has deep, nuanced combat makes the game an assault to be reckoned with no matter how you look at it. The level of ambition and risk isn’t something we typically see from AAA games and the industry would be better if it only learned from Sony Santa Monica’s best game.”
Bradley Russell, news editor: “God of War would be my number one pick, though I’d actually have something like Uncharted 4 pretty close behind. This was a super strong generation, and there’s enough variety (don’t forget the likes of Ratchet and Clank), but for pure re-invention, Kratos has to take the crown. It’s the perfect example of taking a beloved character and refining him just enough to exist alongside his modern peers without taking away too much of what made the series popular to begin with.”
