Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that Pikmin 4 is currently in development and the studio is nearing completion on the project.
"It's actually very close to completion," Miyamoto told Eurogamer during an interview back in July, adding, "Pikmin teams are always working on the next one." Then, in a follow-up statement shortly thereafter, Nintendo provided the outlet with the following confirmation: "We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present."
We have no idea what platform the game is being developed for, but Miyamoto's note that it's nearly complete leads one to believe that it may be out before the Wii U breathes its last breath. Then again, Nintendo could always be considering 3DS or mobile. Rumors also suggest that the NX isn't all too far off, so perhaps it would serve as a launch game for the company's new platform.
It's been two years since the Big N launched Pikmin 3 for Wii U. Are you ready for another entry in the series? Which platform do you think Nintendo is developing the game for? Be sure to sound off with your two cents in the comments, and then check out our Pikmin 3 review while we patiently wait for more information.
