There’s been very little said about the upcoming Nintendo Switch successor, in an official capacity at least. However, there’s a possibility the next-gen hybrid console could arrive in a year’s time. Or it could be pushed back further.
Could be waiting for a strong launch line-up
A recent report from the Japanese website Nikkei (as translated by Eurogamer) suggests the Switch 2 could be looking at a March 2025 release. But it’s also been speculated that Nintendo could delay it even further.
It was originally thought that the Switch follow-up could possibly arrive sometime this year. However, it’s now believed that it’s likely to launch in March, according to this latest report.
One of the main reasons for the delay is said to be down to Nintendo wanting to wait for a rich line-up of games to come out, ready for the console’s release.
Not a lot is known about the new console. In fact, there doesn’t appear to be any official word on whether or not it will even be a hybrid system similar to the current model. It has, however, been suggested that the elusive Switch 2 could sport an 8-inch screen.
Released in 2017, it definitely feels like the Nintendo Switch is fast approaching the end of its life cycle. Succeeding where the Wii U failed, Nintendo’s newest system offered up a mixture of home and portable gaming, boasting such huge hits as Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
It can’t be said for certain when the Switch successor is likely to emerge. All we can really hope for is Nintendo making some sort of announcement, especially with all these speculations flying around.
