Nintendo Switch 2 Could Have an 8-Inch Screen

By now, most people are probably aware that a Nintendo Switch successor is almost certainly in development at this point. While we don’t know the details yet, a new report suggests how big the console’s screen will be.

Nearly two inches bigger than the original

In a recent report from Bloomberg, the Nintendo Switch successor – so far just being referred to as the “Switch 2” – could come with an 8-inch LC screen. That’s according to Omdia analyst Hiroshi Hayase.

While Nintendo itself has been keeping its cards close to its chest regarding the hybrid system’s follow-up, it’s also been suggested that we could see it launch this year, possibly in time for the holidays.

If what the analyst is saying about the screen is true, this means the new Switch console will be much bigger than the original model, which has a 6.2-inch screen. It’ll also be larger than the OLED version that came out in 2021, which boasts a 7-inch screen.

As ever with these speculations, it’s best to take anything said at face value for now. We don’t have any official confirmation about the Switch successor. However, it’s also been rumored that developers have already started working on games for the device.

The Nintendo Switch became a phenomenal success when it was released in 2017. As of now, it’s sold more than 132 million units worldwide. With it approaching its seventh birthday, we’re coming to the end of the console’s lifecycle, which means a follow-up is surely imminent at this point.
