Summer has traditionally been a rough time for game releases, but this year is particularly bad. With very few games to choose from across a three month window, many will rely on their backlog to keep themselves entertained.
But there is Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, a remaster of what many consider to be the last great Final Fantasy. At initial inspection you might be put off by the idea of replaying the game, considering its combat hasn't aged well, but you may want to give it a chance.
It has been confirmed that Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will include several new features that weren't present with the original release. Among these is a sub-job system, which fans of Final Fantasy XI are familiar with.
Upon visiting the License Board, you will be able to equip a second job. This will allow you to choose from a larger set of abilities, and mix in match in interesting ways.
It has also been confirmed that a new full screen overlay map option will be available. This fucntions similarly to the Diablo series, allowing you to navigate the world with full visibility, while also have a large map on-screen to guide you.
Lastly, eight new musical tracks will be featured in the game in addition to the full original OST. Note that there will be a soundtrack toggle available in the settings that'll allow you to alternate between the classic composition and the updated one.
As previously confirmed, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will feature dual-audio, HD visuals, auto-save, Turbo Mode, and much quicker loading times. It is scheduled to release on July 11th exclusively on PS4.
