Resident Evil 6 Bumped Up To October Release

Capcom has decided to push the launch of Resident Evil 6 up a few weeks, changing its release date from November 20th to October 2nd. The announcement was made in a brand-new trailer that debuted at the publisher's Captivate Event in Rome.

We've got the video embedded below for your viewing pleasure. Fortunately for us, Capcom did a wonderful thing by using Italian subtitles and keeping the voiceover work in English. Thanks guys!

Oh yeah, and there's quite a bit of plot-related content in the video, so if you don't want any of the game spoiled, I suggest you steer clear.

Capcom hasn't been shy about the fact that they plan to make the core Resident Evil titles more action-focused going forward, so their reasoning behind bumping up the release date for the sixth installment should be pretty obvious. There's no doubt that Capcom wants to be sure that they get their game out on store shelves before the next Call of Duty steals all of the spotlight.

Simple solution? Make a horror game that doesn't rely on capitalizing on the popularity of the action genre. Give us something completely fresh, exciting and unique, as fighting for recognition amongst the onslaught of massively popular action titles is a losing battle, and one that will inevitably dilute Capcom's beloved franchise.
