Molyneux Thoroughly Unimpressed With The Wii U, Calls It “Slightly Lacklustre”

Former Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux shared his thoughts on Nintendo's upcoming console in an email conversation with Kotaku. In it, the Fable creator didn't have a whole lot of positive to throw the Wii U's way, pointing out that Nintendo is definitely going to need some killer first party software if the company hopes to be successful. “Nintendo's slightly lacklustre Wii U is going to have to blow us away with better specs and great 1st party line up,” he said.

In addition, Molyneux discussed both Microsoft and Sony, saying that with no plans to release next-gen consoles in the immediate future, it will be "interesting to see how they pad out another year. Price cuts, form factors?"

The infamous British game designer just recently left Lionhead to start up a new studio, oddly named 22 Cans. Since he's just getting things off the ground with his new company and will be heavily involved in Spike TV’s E3 coverage, don't expect any major game announcements from Molyneux at the expo.
