Whether you’re playing an FPS or just drawing in Photoshop, which mouse you use is an important part of the PC user experience. There is no end all solution, either. Everyone has different hands, so a mouse that one gamer loves might not work for someone else.
A few years ago I jumped between mice a lot, going from the Logitech G500 to the Razer Deathadder and Taipan before arriving at the SteelSeries Rival. I’ve liked most of the gaming mice I have tried, but only the Rival has fit my hand perfectly.
I’ve been using the Rival for three years now, and love it for the most part. My only main complaint is the scroll wheel sometimes gets caught between two notches, and will randomly click into position executing a command depending on the game I’m playing. In the case of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, this means randomly jumping at the worst times possible. Yes, it’s gotten me killed.
That said, the look and feel of the mouse is stellar, to a point where although I’ve reviewed several other options, I’ve always found myself coming back to the Rival.
