Sea of Thieves Update 1.0.2

Sea of Thieves Sales Impress Despite Xbox Game Pass Availability

Sea of Thieves sales are going strong in the UK, with the game managing to top the sales chart despite it being available as part of the Xbox Game Pass. Rare’s pirate adventure managed to fend off tough competition from Ni no Kuni 2, with the Xbox One and Windows game drawing in a significant audience in the region.

Despite Chart-Track only accounting for physical copies sold rather than digital copies, Sea of Thieves still managed to come out on top, even though many will likely have opted to download the title either via Xbox Live or through the Windows Store. This indicates that the game has been a hit in the UK, even though it had a few more days on sale ahead of its competitors, with it launching on Tuesday while Ni no Kuni 2 and A Way Out launched on Thursday.

Interestingly, A Way Out charted ahead of Ni no Kuni 2, with Level 5’s JRPG expected to be the second-biggest release of the week. It seems that Hazelight Studio’s unique co-op game proved to be more popular in the region, with it allowing two online players to team up together using only one copy likely contributing to its success.

Elsewhere in the top 40 list, Attack on Titan 2 debuted in 17th while Detective Pikachu came in at 23rd. This week will see the release of Far Cry 5, which will surely mix things up and ensure that Sea of Thieves won’t retain its top spot for long. With critics and consumers being divided over the game, it remains to be seen how it fares in other regions, and whether or not it manages to place so high in the sales charts over the coming days.
