Report: Pokemon on Switch Will Feature Generation Eight

The Pokemon Company has not officially announced anything that would be deemed concrete information for its upcoming Pokemon Nintendo Switch game. However, a feature in an official Nintendo magazine in Spain has purportedly revealed several crucial details about the Pokemon game on the hybrid console.

Twitter user @raqueruu recently posted a few images which consist of pages from the Spanish Nintendo magazine. The section about the Pokemon Nintendo Switch game suggests that the upcoming game will feature brand new generation eight Pokemon. If this is true, it would mean that players would receive a completely new region to explore, filled with never-before-seen creatures.

Additionally, the magazine article states that The Pokemon Company is looking to incorporate new gameplay mechanics in the Pokemon Nintendo Switch game and that it will arrive sometime in 2018 or even later. Unfortunately, it doesn’t get any more specific than that, but that’s already a lot more information than we bargained for.

Although these details were taken from an “official” Nintendo magazine, some has pointed out that the magazine has made mistakes in the past. As such, we prefer to treat these revelations as rumors until the Pokemon Company itself confirms these details regarding the Pokemon Nintendo Switch game. The last Pokemon main series games to be released were Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which was released on the Nintendo 3DS.

In other related news, the Pokemon Company did recently tweet a speculative picture on Twitter, depicting an Eevee on a Lapras’ back. The tweet was most like meant to troll fans who were excited over another alleged screenshot of the Pokemon Nintendo Switch game, which leaked earlier. No other details regarding the game have been officially revealed by The Pokemon Company so it looks like we might have to wait even longer for some concrete news on the upcoming Nintendo Switch game.

We’ve contacted Nintendo for further comment on the authenticity of the magazine and will update this article when/if we hear back.
