Cyberpunk 2077

More Proof of a Cyberpunk 2077 E3 Showing Appears on E3 Website

E3 has published details on what exhibitors are bringing to the show this year, and that brings us a little closer to knowing whether or not Cyberpunk 2077 will be there or not. On the CD Projekt RED exhibitor page, we can see they’ll be showing an RPG for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This could also be the first sign we’re seeing that the game will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One as it has only been confirmed for Windows at this point.

After being relatively dormant in the news cycle for several years, Cyberpunk 2077 began a stir this January when the game’s official Twitter sent a message for the first time in five years. With the lack of info on the project since its reveal in January 2013, many speculated it could be in development hell.

Of course, CD Projekt RED could be showing a completely different RPG at E3. From what we know of the studio’s current projects, though, it’s either Cyberpunk 2077 or Gwent. I don’t think CD Projekt RED are brave enough to weather the inevitable storm of Tweets from incensed fans if their big reveal is a Gwent expansion, but it would be deliciously trolly of them.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most highly-anticipated upcoming games, and the secrecy around its development has made fans even more rabid for any scrap of info. Depending on the presentation CD Projekt RED could outshine huge studios like Microsoft and Nintendo at E3, which would be a major coup for a company that was a relatively small player at the start of the decade.

In any case, I’m totally pumped to see a near-future, cyberpunk-inspired world get The Witcher treatment. The medieval fantasy genre is saturated with Game of Thrones, Kingdom Come, The Witcher 3, and more, so it’ll be great to see a huge AAA take on a style that doesn’t get much attention from larger studios.
