Fortnite Switch Reveal Imminent as Game is Rated in Korea

The Fortnite Switch reveal is seemingly imminent as the game has received a rating from the Korean Game Rating Board. The Fortnite Nintendo Switch port has been rumored for a while now, with a recent leak suggesting that it is set to be unveiled at E3 2018. This latest development suggests that the game is definitely on its way, and Switch owners will soon be able to play Epic Games’ blockbuster battle royale game.

Fortnite Switch’s rating in Korea means that Epic Games has submitted an application to the country’s rating board. Nintendo Switch owners have been hoping that the game would eventually make its way to the console, with its portability allowing them to play it while on the move, but without the fiddly controls of the mobile version. The Switch requires a Wi-Fi connection for online connectivity, so owners of the console won’t exactly be able to play its Fortnite Battle Royale mode everywhere, but it’s certainly a step up from using an iPhone touchscreen to secure a Victory Royale.

Fortnite‘s appearance on Switch would be a major coup for Nintendo. With the game’s Fortnite Battle Royale mode being free-to-play, it would bring many to the company’s Nintendo Online service. Though this service is currently free, eventually Nintendo will employ a paid model. Having Fortnite appear on the console would certainly convince many to keep a subscription with this service.

Fortnite is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android, so a Nintendo Switch release would complete Epic Games’ domination. Though Fortnite has completely changed the face of the developer, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. Recently, PUBG developer PUBG Corporation filed a lawsuit against Epic Games, citing the similarities between Fortnite and PUBG. This case has still yet to go to trial, though you can read a rundown of the lawsuit here.
