Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 Trademark Filed by CD Projekt RED Ahead of E3

A trademark for Cyberpunk 2077 has been filed by CD Projekt RED in Europe, according to a trademark filing application discovered by ResetEra user AAMARMO, just a few days before the start of E3 2018. Cyberpunk 2077 is the latest project from Witcher developer CD Projekt RED, which they announced back in 2012.

Not much has been heard about the Cyberpunk 2077 since a teaser trailer was released back in 2013 but it looks like the studio is ready to say more about their upcoming game and we’ll probably hear more about it at E3. It’s not confirmed however if CD Projekt RED plans to reveal anything directly to the public or if they plan to only show things behind closed doors.

What we do know is that Cyberpunk 2077 is meant to be an open-world sci-fi RPG loosely based on the tabletop game Cyperpunk 2020 by Mike Pondsmith, who is consulting on the project. The game will be set in Night City, California, in a technologically advanced, dystopian world. We also know that the game will feature a nonlinear story and player choice will have an effect on the game’s ending.

Cyberpunk 2077 is CD Projekt RED’s first new game after the Witcher series. The studio opened a new division called CD Projekt Red Wrocław to support the game’s development. The game uses the studio’s own REDengine 4, a newer version of the company’s engine that was used for both The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The new game is expected to release for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Hopefully, CD Projekt RED will be able to confirm the platforms that the game will be released on as well as announce a release window for Cyberpunk 2077 at E3.
