Despite releasing in Japan way back in July (to middling sales figures), Anarchy Reigns has remained without a release date for the West for some time now. The brawler was a long time source of friction between developer Platinum Games and publisher SEGA. Today, Platinum was happy to announce via twitter that Anarchy Reigns will be arriving on PS3 and Xbox 360 in the Americas and Europe on January 8th (11th for Euro territories).
Next… year? Despite finally relinquishing, SEGA remains fixated on releasing the title at a time when it's not competing with Halo, Call of Duty, and other heavy hitters. I'd say they've certainly cemented that, pricing the game at just $29.99.
At its inception, Platinum Games signed a five-game publishing deal with SEGA. As the latter company has started to transition into a digital-only publisher, Platinum Games moved on to new publishing deals with Konami (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance) and Nintendo (The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2). There was some concern that Anarchy Reigns would never see the light of day on this side of the Pacific, but you'll be able to chainsaw your friends to death soon.
