PUBG FPP

What is FPP PUBG: How to Play, FPP vs. TPP

With all that’s going on in PUBG, it can be a little tricky to dig down into the nitty-gritty of the specifics that could mean the difference between a chicken dinner and heated-up leftovers. FPP in PUBG is one such thing: at first glance, an impenetrable acronym but, once you figure it out, could make you see the game very differently. Literally.

What is FPP PUBG: FPP Explained

FPP stands for first-person perspective. Unless you’ve barely picked up a joypad or controller in your life, there’s a good chance you know what a first-person perspective looks like in a video game, and it’s the exact same proposition in PUBG.

Of course, it’s a little more complicated than that. While there are FPP-only PUBG modes, away from that, there’s a raging debate over what works best: FPP or TPP (third-person perspective). But first: the FPP-only modes.

On the main menu, you’ll be able to pick out Solos, Duos and Squads for FPP-only matches should you wish. This feature has been live on PC for some time, but was only introduced to the Xbox One version of PUBG in January 2018.

As the name suggests, you can only use first-person in these modes.

Now, whether you want to use FPP or TPP is entirely up to you. If you’re coming in from something such as Fortnite, you’ll be far more used to the third-person perspective with the camera raised just above the player. That is recommended for most users (and most PUBG players tend to use that), but FPP can come with some distinct advantages.

For one thing, you can properly lean which offers a tactical leg-up in battle. Do so using Q and E on PC or holding the left trigger and clicking in the left stick the way you wish to lean. You can also ‘see’ at a further distance thanks to the drawn-in camera focusing on the horizon rather than at your back.
